History of the magazine

In 1992, the Department of Acmeology and Psychology of Professional Activity was founded at the Academy under the President of the Russian Federation. A scientific and pedagogical team was formed, consisting of psychologists, philosophers, sociologists, and teachers (K.A. Abulkhanova-Slavskaya, A.A. Bodalev, A.A. Derkach, E.A. Klimov, V.G. Aseev, A.K. Markova, E.A. Yablokova, and others). An attempt was made to substantiate the ideas of a productively and progressively developing mature personality reaching its peak in professional development. In parallel, in St. Petersburg, N.V. Kuzmina conducts research on topical issues of the development of human abilities and their impact on productive life.

Information support for these studies was provided by the scientific and practical journal Acmeology, which was published regularly from 1994 to 2018 as a periodic peer-reviewed publication recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for publishing scientific results of dissertation research.

In 2016, the independent application “Development of Professionalism” was launched on the basis of the journal, aimed at informational, educational, and methodological support for young and novice, primarily Russian, researchers in the field of personal and professional human development. Until 2018, the results of review, staged and applied research, as well as creative developments of students, undergraduates and postgraduates, were published.

In 2019, with the change in the current social demand for applied research, due to the arrival of young colleagues in the editorial staff, in the context of the active formation of alternative scientific and practical trends in psychology and education, in the context of the increasing digitalization of the media, there was an objective need for a radical rebranding and a powerful repositioning of editorial policy with the termination of the two journals of the traditional and with the creation of a new publication — a network periodical.

The new edition is designed to meet modern international requirements for applied journals, to focus on current (trending) scientific, practical, didactic and methodological issues and areas of developmental psychology (age psychology), educational psychology (educational psychology and pedagogy), continuing education, Lifelong Learning Education.

In April 2019, by the decision of the Autonomous Non-profit Organization "Center for Personal Development and Improvement "Acme", the online periodical "Psychology of Development and Education (Russian Journal of Applied Research) / Developmental and Educational Psychology (Russian Journal of Applied Research)" was created.

The journal was registered with Roskomnadzor on May 30, 2019.
